Let’s face it, after 40, the body just... changes.

Gone are the days of bouncing back from a workout like a superhero. Building muscle feels harder, stubborn fat hangs on for dear life, and a tough session can leave you sore for days.

This isn’t just bad luck — ageing is linked to a steady decline in metabolic rate starting as early as your 20s. As muscle, bone, and connective tissues begin to break down, they’re often replaced by fat, especially around the waist and thighs. To make things more frustrating, our body’s ability to build muscle in response to protein (known as anabolic resistance) drops off after 40. And for women, this resistance is even more pronounced.

Sound familiar? You’re not alone.

But here’s the good news: with the right nutritional support, you can fight back.

Introducing 40UP — a next-gen protein formula designed to support collagen for muscles, strength, and lean body composition as you age. Backed by clinical research, 40up delivers targeted collagen for muscle building and recovery, formulated to meet the unique needs of people over 40.

We’ve replaced hype with hard science — every scoop is carefully dosed to help your body rebuild muscle, burn stubborn fat, and bounce back faster from exercise. Whether you're returning to training or staying strong as you age, 40up is your foundation for better results.

Forget the gimmicks. Reclaim your strength, sculpt your body, and feel powerful again — with 40UP.

40up Features

40up's precisely-dosed formula combines powerful ingredients like whey protein for muscle growth, hydrolyzed collagen to strengthen connective tissue and joints, and medium chain triglycerides to torch fat. Glycine, creatine monohydrate, and leucine work in harmony to boost strength and exercise recovery. A targeted prebiotic and balanced vitamins and minerals for gut health and optimal absorption complete the perfect combo.

Here's why 40up is different from all those generic protein powders lining the shelves:

  • Science-Backed Formula: Forget gimmicks and trendy ingredients. 40up is the product of extensive clinical research, ensuring each dose is packed with exactly what your body needs for anyone over 40.
  • The Power of Protein: We haven't forgotten the basics. High-quality whey protein provides the building blocks for muscle growth and repair.
  • Peptan® Hydrolysed Collagen: This proprietary peptide goes beyond muscle. It provides a unique set of amino acids and peptides, particularly glycine and proline, which complement the whey amino acid profile, and are essential for building connective tissues like tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Collagen keeps your joints healthy and flexible, helping prevent injuries, reducing inflammation, and allowing you to push yourself further.
  • Fat-Burning Boost: Medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) kick your metabolism into high gear, helping you torch fat stores for lasting energy.
  • Recovery Redefined: Glycine and creatine monohydrate work together to reduce post-workout soreness and fatigue, so you can recover faster and get back to conquering your goals.
  • The Leucine Edge: This superstar amino acid 'flicks on the switch' for muscle protein synthesis, maximising your gains from every workout.
  • Prebiotic Perfection: Improved gut health increases energy and supports the digestion and absorption of nutrients and minerals, inhibiting pathogenic bacteria, and stimulating gastrointestinal immune functions.
  • No nasties: 40up uses 100% natural ingredients and does not contain any artificial colours or flavours, fillers, nitrates, emulsifiers, such as xanthan gum, guar gum, acacia gum (also known as gum Arabic), polysorbate 80 (P80), carrageenan, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and lecithin, phosphates, erythritol or other artificial sweeteners, or GMO.
  • Great taste: 40up has a delicious vanilla flavour and can be used as a meal replacement. It is easily mixed or blended with any liquid.

Don't just take our word for it. See what Men's Health has to say about 40UP and its potential benefits for men over 40.

40up Science

Study 1

    • Research Undertaken: Assess the influence of post-exercise protein supplementation with collagen peptides v. placebo on muscle mass and muscle function following resistance training in elderly subjects with sarcopenia.

Research results: collagen peptide supplementation in combination with resistance training further improved body composition by increasing fat free mass, muscle strength and the loss in fat mass.

  • Study 2

    • Research Undertaken: Investigate the effects of resistance training combined with whey protein or placebo on muscle and tendon hypertrophy using a high-leucine whey protein.

Research Results: High-leucine whey protein increases muscle and tendon growth following 12 weeks of resistance training – irrespective of contraction mode.

  • Study 3

    • Research Undertaken: To investigate the effect of Leucine supplementation on the acute response to resistance exercise.

Research Results: Leucine supplementation (3g) increases the activation of the muscle anabolic response, and does not augment/attenuate the muscle catabolic response after resistance exercise.

  • Study 4

    • Research Undertaken: Evaluate the effects of enriching an essential amino acid (EAA) mixture with leucine on muscle protein metabolism in elderly and young individuals.

Research Results: leucine has a unique role in the stimulation of muscle protein synthesis by EAAs in elderly humans.

  • Study 5

    • Research Undertaken: To evaluate whether a high whey protein, leucine-enriched supplement stimulates muscle protein synthesis acutely to a greater extent than a conventional dairy product in older adults.

Research Results: a larger overall postprandial muscle protein synthesis rate in healthy older subjects compared with a conventional dairy product was observed.

  • Study 6

    • Research undertaken: To investigate if glycine would restore the normal muscle anabolic response to amino acids under inflammatory conditions.

Research results: glycine can restore the anabolic response to leucine during acute inflammation in skeletal muscle. These observations support the view that attempting to stimulate protein synthesis by increasing leucine availability alone constitutes an ineffective strategy to counteract anabolic resistance in muscle-wasting conditions

  • Study 1

    • Research Undertaken: To investigate the influence of oral supplementation with creatine monohydrate on muscular performance during repeated sets of high-intensity resistance exercise.

Research results: A significant improvement in peak power output during all 5 sets of jump squats and a significant improvement in repetitions during all 5 sets of bench presses.

  • Study 2

    • Research Undertaken: A review to highlight the use of creatine in females from young adulthood to old age.

Research results: Creatine supplementation resulted in improvements in strength and exercise capacity. When combined with resistance training, creatine further augments body composition and bone mineral density, particularly in post-menopausal females.

  • Study 3

    • Research Undertaken: effects of long-term collagen peptide (CP) supplementation and resistance exercise training (RET) on body composition, strength, and muscle fiber cross-sectional area in recreationally active men.

Research results: Following RET and CP supplementation, fat free mass (FFM) increased. The increase in FFM after CP supplementation was not only associated with an increase of muscle but might also be caused by a higher increase in connective tissue compared with placebo-controlled subjects.

  • Study 1

    • Research Undertaken: To determine whether consuming Peptan collagen peptides (CP) before and after strenuous exercise alters markers of muscle damage, inflammation and bone turnover.

Research results: Peptan supplementation accelerated the recovery and tended to reduce muscle soreness following a bout of muscle-damaging exercise.

  • Study 2

    • Research Undertaken: Analyse the effect of glycine in tenond cells subjected to inflammation.

Research results: glycine can be useful for treatment of inflammation and for modulating tenocytes metabolism in tendons.

  • Study 1

    • Research Undertaken: To investigate the effect of long-term ingestion of dietary medium-chain triacylglycerols (MCT) on body weight and fat in humans.

Research results: The loss of body fat in the MCT group was significantly greater than that in the control group.

  • Study 2

    • Research Undertaken: To establish the effects of MCT on appetite and food intake and determine whether differences were due to differences in hormone concentrations.

Research results: MCT consumption reduced food intake acutely

  • Study 3

    • Research Undertaken: Correcting obesity-related gut microbiome dysbiosis using the prebiotic agent oligofructose to provide a therapeutic strategy to treat the osteoarthritis of obesity.

Research results: Oligofructose reverses the effect of obesity on the gut microbiome, reduces systemic inflammation and prevents cartilage loss in the Osteo Arthritis of obesity.

  • Study 1

    • Research Undertaken: To investigate whether MCT enhances exercise endurance.

Research results: A beneficial effect of dietary MCT in exercise performance through the increase of mitochondrial biogenesis and metabolism.

  • Study 2

    • Research Undertaken: To investigate the prebiotic Oligofructose proliferates good gut bacteria Lactobacillus

Research results: Lactobacillus increased exercise performance, decreased white adipose tissue, increased muscle mass, and enhanced gastrocnemius muscle type I fiber numbers without body weight gain.
