Where is CollagenX Hydrolysed Collagen made?
CollagenX hydrolysed collagen is produced in state-of-the-art, certified plants in France and Brazil, and our constant focus is on ensuring the complete safety of every product and process we are responsible for.
How does Collagenx meet quality standards?
Peptan's plants are HACCP and ISO9001 certified meeting the highest international quality standards. We ensure full traceability throughout every step of our production process.
How is CollagenX different from other collagen brands?
CollagenX is backed by extensive, independent scientific evidence. Most others aren’t. Published results from clinical studies show the benefits of Peptan for skin beauty, joint health and recovery from exercise, as well as mechanistic data that explains how Peptan/CollagenX conveys those effects at a cellular level. Furthermore our comprehensive data from preclinical studies demonstrates that Peptan/CollagenX helps to maintain healthy bones. Thus, CollagenX is a unique collagen peptide offering a holistic solution to maintain the health of the musculoskeletal system and the skin. Our scientific team continuously works to extend the available science and to explore new health areas for collagen products.
How much collagen should I take?
Most of the scientific research on Hydrolysed Collagen use a dose of 10grams to achieve desired results. There is no toxic level, so Hydrolysed Collagen can be taken in larger doses very safely.
How should I take Collagen to maximise benefits.
All proteins are better assimilated in the body when taken with carbohydrate on a 2:1 ratio.
What is the best source of collagen, and what is the difference in bovine vs marine?
There are 29 different types of collagen in our body. Types I, II, and III correspond to 80%–90% of the total collagen found in the human body and type I is the most abundant in the skin (80%). Type III collagen corresponds to 15%. In cartilage, type II collagen predominates (90–95%) in the formation of the extracellular matrix. Other types of collagen (I, IV, V, VI, IX, and XI) contribute to the formation and stabilization of the type II collagen fibril network.
The main difference is that fish/marine Collagen is 100% type 1 collagen whereas the bovine collagen is approximately 90% type 1 and 10% type 3. Our skin hair and nails comprise of type 1 collagen so if you are looking purely to improve your skin this is the one for you. Type 1 will also greatly benefit your bones, tendons, and ligaments. The bovine also gets amazing results on the skin however the type 3 collagen mainly acts on the structural component in hollow organs such as large blood vessels, uterus and bowel. Other functions of type III collagen include interaction with platelets in the blood clotting cascade and it is also an important signalling molecule in would healing. Both will give you excellent health results and reduce inflammation in the body. Marine is more expensive as it takes more of the raw product (fish) to make the same amount of the hydrolysed form. There are some reports that suggest that Marine Collagen is more bioavailable (absorbed into the body) however both types are extremely bioavailable.
At what age should I take collagen
As we age, our body's natural production of collagen slows dramatically. Over 25? Your body is probably not replenishing collagen as quickly as you are losing it, since replenishment slows with age. As your body slows its collagen production, you’ll typically end up with skin that “looks older” with less skin elasticity, vibrancy and hydration, creaky joints, or even gut disturbances. It could even mean thinner hair and brittle nails. And none of us are exempt from this natural aging process. The typical woman can expect to lose about 1 to 2 percent of her body’s collagen every year starting in her mid-30s, and this rate generally only increases as she makes her way through her 40s, 50s and beyond.
How long does it take for collagen to work?
According to clinical trials, a daily intake of 5 to 10g per day will help to maintain the skin’s hydration, firmness and elasticity i.e. its youth and beauty. Some studies have shown that skin’s hydration improves after one to two months. Numerous published clinical studies have demonstrated the benefits of collagen peptides for preserving joint health. Most studies show effects within 3 months.
I heard collagen is broken down into free amino acids in the gut making it ineffective. Is that true?
Well, not true! This study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, proves that collagen peptides can be transferred directly to the skin by dietary supplements of hydrolysed collagen powder. The scientists concluded that the increase in peptide levels in the blood by the oral administration of Hydrolysed Collagen Powder, were further hydrolysed to dipeptides in the blood and skin.
Is CollagenX a natural product?
Our premium collagen peptides are 100% natural, safe and free from any preservatives or additives.
Is collagen different than other protein powders?
Yes. CollagenX collagen peptides are characterised by their high levels of specific amino acids glycine (Gly), hydroxyproline (Hyp), proline (Pro) and alanine (Ala). After intake, collagen peptides are quickly absorbed into the blood stream and are available as very small, unique peptides characterised by a Hyp-Pro containing sequence. These peptides act as important signal molecules to stimulate cells as well as building blocks supporting the connective tissues and musculo-skeletal health. In the case of CollagenX collagen peptide, in comparison to whey and soy protein it contains higher level of Gly, Hyp, Pro, Ala, this specific amino acid composition provides collagen peptides their unique bioactive properties not found with other protein sources.
When is the best time to consume CollagenX?
Peptan collagen peptides are pure protein and can be consumed at any time of the day or night.
